As we head into the Christmas season, I want to acknowledge what a tender and complex time this can be for many in our community. For some, this season brings connection and light; for others, it can stir feelings of sadness, pressure, or longing. Whether you are personally navigating fertility challenges or supporting someone close to you, please know you are held gently in our thoughts. There is no right way to move through this time of year, and however you feel, you are not alone.

It has been a big year for Fertility NZ, one of transition, strengthening, and steady progress. We said goodbye to our wonderful Support Coordinator, Kate, and remain grateful for the heart and skill she brought to her role. At the same time, our core work has continued at pace. Our helpline, support groups, online communities, webinars, and information services have remained busy and deeply valued, reflecting the ongoing need for connection, guidance, and understanding throughout Aotearoa. Our volunteers and advisors across the motu continue to be the heartbeat of this organisation, and their generosity of time and spirit is something I am endlessly grateful for.

This has also been a year of refocusing — strengthening our processes, refining our foundations, and ensuring that we remain a strong, sustainable organisation long into the future. Each quiet piece of behind-the-scenes work contributes to our ability to show up meaningfully for the thousands of people who reach out to us every year.

As we cast our eyes toward 2026, there’s a gentle but unmistakable sense of renewal. The careful work of this year has laid the groundwork for a future where our services continue to grow in strength, clarity, and connection. The year ahead feels full of fresh pathways and hopeful horizons, and we’re ready to walk them, side by side with this extraordinary community, to ensure everyone navigating fertility challenges feels held, supported, and understood.

As the year comes to a close, I hope you can find moments of rest, warmth, and kindness, whatever Christmas looks like for you this year. From all of us at Fertility NZ, thank you for your trust, your courage, and your presence in this community. We wish you a peaceful, gentle Christmas and a new year filled with hope and possibility.
