Hello, fellow fertility warriors! Let's talk about something that doesn't get nearly enough attention: the power of building a support community when you are on the rollercoaster of trying to conceive. Having a solid, understanding crew by your side can make all the difference in the world. Joining the Fertility New Zealand Fertility Support Series allowed my partner and me to truly connect with five other local couples who were going through the same journey at the same time.
Fertility treatment is an emotional rollercoaster for most of us. From the highs of hope to the gut-wrenching lows of disappointment, it's a wild ride. That's where your squad comes in. The Fertility Support Series connected us with other couples in the same boat, and having people who truly understand what you're going through can be a game-changer. They are there to listen, to offer a shoulder when you need it, and to remind you that you're not alone in this journey.
Let's also not forget about the physical side of things. Fertility treatments are often physically demanding. Between the endless appointments and hormone injections, it's easy to feel drained and overwhelmed. Having a squad means having backup when you need it most. Knowing that you have people in your corner can make those tough days a little bit easier to bear.
Your squad can also be a treasure trove of knowledge and wisdom. They have been there, done that, and probably have a few tricks up their sleeves to share. From recommending the best clinics and doctors to sharing tips for coping with the ups and downs of treatment, their insights can be invaluable as you navigate this complex journey.
The power of collective positivity shouldn’t be underestimated. When you're surrounded by people who believe in you, who cheer you on every step of the way, it's easier to keep the faith even when things feel bleak. Since we initially connected more than two years ago, my Fertility Support Series group has supported one another through miscarriage and baby loss, surgeries, experimental treatments, pregnancy success, surrogacy, and the decision to be child-free. Your squad is there to lift you up, to remind you of your strength and resilience, and to help you hold onto hope and clarity even on the darkest days.
So, if you're on this journey and feeling like you're going it alone, I urge you to reach out to Fertility New Zealand and build your squad. Having a support community by your side can make all the difference because when it comes to facing the challenges of fertility treatment, there's strength in numbers.
