Christchurch Support Volunteer

Christchurch

Fertility New Zealand walks alongside all people facing fertility challenges; we do this by providing in-person support and information to people experiencing fertility issues. We are looking for supportive volunteers to grow our team in Christchurch.

Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity? Consider joining as a Support Volunteer with Fertility NZ. In this role, you'll help facilitate our Fertility Support group, providing valuable support to couples and individuals dealing with fertility challenges.

Our support group meets on the last Tuesday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Riccarton. We are particularly interested in individuals with a personal fertility journey and lived experience or relevant studies.
As a Support Volunteer, you'll work alongside another volunteer to facilitate the group, ensuring that no one has to do it alone. We also provide ongoing training and support to help you excel in your role.

This opportunity typically requires a time commitment of 3-5 hours per month, and mileage is reimbursed for transportation to and from the location. Additionally, we offer flexibility in completing the required onboarding training hours and organise annual training events. Fertility NZ will handle all travel bookings and arrangements on your behalf.

We are seeking long-term volunteers who can commit to at least a year. Join us for a fulfilling experience of giving back to the community.

Required Skills include:
• Active listener
• Ability to bring people together in a positive, empathetic and nurturing environment
• Lead meetings positively and encouragingly and set the tone of the meeting
• Desire to progress Fertility NZ’s mission and support people experiencing the rigours of fertility challenges
• Ability to stay calm when members are stressed or upset
• Report the monthly attendance to the Support Coordinator by completing a short online survey
• Have a close working relationship with the National Support Coordinator
• Maintain a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards members.

Please send an up-to-date CV and cover letter stating why you want to volunteer with Fertility NZ to info@fertilitynz.org.nz.
