Grief and Loss
Grief and Loss
Infertility is unique in that the person/s affected are confronted by accumulated grief and loss – not just a singular event. This can be compounding and often the couple will not have time to work through this process before they move on to the next treatment or plan.
Of course you should be worried if the person you care about seems very down or depressed for a long period of time. Be patient and if the moment is right and appropriate, perhaps you could encourage them to contact the Clinic Counsellor or seek support from one of our groups.
For those trying to conceive naturally over a prolonged period of time is a similar phenomenon. Getting a dreaded period or negative pregnancy result has the same effect.
For all couples, no matter how long or complex their journey has been to date, similar issues and feelings arise.
